Welcome to the Vryheid FPA website.
The Vryheid Fire Protection Association is responsible for the co-ordination and management of rural fire activities undertaken within the boundaries of the Abaqulusi, eDumbe, Emadlangeni, uPhongolo, Ulundi and Endumeni Municipalities of KwaZulu-Natal.
The Vryheid FPA was established in 2007 and was formed to allow the participants to enhance effective fire prevention, protection, suppression and other fire control measures within the respective areas at risk from uncontrolled fires for the good of the local community in general.
The Vryheid FPA is responsible for ensuring facilities and resources are available for the reduction, readiness, response and recovery from any forest or rural veld fire incident.
The area of operation is centred on the town of Vryheid and is approximately 843,572.5 hectares and made up of agriculture, forestry and conservation.
